Imee Marcos Questions Government Plan Amid Growing Crisis

Imee Marcos Challenges Energy Crisis Response of the Government

IMEE MARCOS – With rising concerns over energy supply, Imee Marcos is demanding clearer answers from leaders.

Amid a deepening global crisis triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Senator Imee Marcos raised concerns over the Philippine government’s current response, questioning whether relief assistance alone is enough to address the country’s challenges.

Her remarks came after her brother, President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr., declared a state of national energy emergency as fears over fuel supply disruptions and rising oil prices continue to grow.

In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, March 25, Imee openly questioned the administration’s direction and urged leaders to present a clearer and more concrete plan to mitigate the effects of the crisis on ordinary Filipinos.

“Kanino ba tayo nakikipag-usap? Nakisuyo na ba tayo sa Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia pati sa China at India?

“Mayro’n ba talagang plano ang pamahalaan o puro ayuda na lang ang ibibigay nila sa tao?” said Imee.

The senator emphasized the importance of strengthening diplomatic ties and engaging neighboring countries in negotiations to secure oil imports. According to her, proactive coordination with regional partners could help stabilize supply and prevent further economic strain.

She also called on key government agencies, particularly the Philippine National Oil Company, to step up and implement broader, long-term solutions that go beyond temporary relief measures.

“Hindi pangmatagalan na solusyon ang ayuda, pinagkakakitaan na ‘yan ng mga buwaya. Ang kailangan natin ay seryoso at matalinong pagpaplano para sa mga ordinaryong Pilipino,” the senator said.

Imee’s statements highlight growing concerns over the sustainability of current government strategies, especially as global uncertainties continue to impact local fuel prices and the overall economy. While financial assistance programs can provide immediate relief, she argued that they should not be the centerpiece of the government’s response.

As the country navigates the effects of the international crisis, the senator’s call underscores the need for decisive leadership, strategic planning, and regional cooperation. With energy security becoming a pressing issue, the government faces increasing pressure to deliver solutions that will not only address short-term needs but also safeguard the nation’s long-term stability.
