Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez had this advice for younger artists during her acceptance speech for her Woman of the Year award from Billboard Philippines.

Regine is someone that many younger singers look up to. Her achievements and milestones in the entertainment industry simply showed the hard work and talent she possesses to reach where she is now.

Over the years, recognition and awards were given to her, and one of the biggest she has yet received was bestowed during the Billboard Philippines’ Women in Music ceremony on Tuesday, March 24, as she was honored as Woman of the Year.

After a moving performance of “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” that drew a standing ovation, the OPM icon used her acceptance speech to encourage fellow artists to keep faith in their dreams and prepare for the moment they finally manifest.

To the people in this room, dream big. Hindi pwedeng maliit ka lang mangarap. Dapat malaki kang mangarap. Dapat ready kang matupad ang pangarap mo. You have to dream big. Dapat lakihan mo. Mas malaki sa’yo ang pangarap mo, then work hard. Be ready. Because one day, it will be your time,” the Asia’s Songbird said.

She also shared that she didn’t know that her father’s dream was to travel the world. Eventually, she was able to fulfill this because of her singing career.

Regine grew emotional as she thanked the industry for connecting her with her husband and helping her rediscover her love for singing.

The multi-awarded singer also shared that during her younger years, she kept breaking the rules. She was told not to cut her hair, but she did. Regine was also told not to sing certain songs, but she sang them anyway.

We sometimes doubt ourselves a lot of times. And something in us pinapaalala ang sarili natin na kaya natin. This industry has changed my life in so many wonderful ways,Regine Velasquez added.
