Maris Racal talked about her role in ‘Batang Quiapo’
Kapamilya actress Maris Racal reminisced her stint in the primetime action-drama series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
Maris has done various roles on TV and in movies. Last year, she became part of one of the most popular teleseryes of the Kapamilya network.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Maris expressed that the chance of working with Kapamilya Primetime King Coco Martin was already a milestone for her.
For her, it was a big learning experience since she did a different style of action, and she enjoyed it. She also shared that what she loved the most were the moments behind the camera, more than her explosive scenes.
“Ang vina-value ko talaga ‘yung time namin sa tent, time behind the camera. Ang dami kong natutunan. It’s a really beautiful learning experience,” she said.
Maris Racal also shared that being part of the action-drama series was challenging for her considering unpredictable nature of the production.
“Na-challenge talaga ako as in ‘yung tipong on the spot lahat. Hindi lang sa action but pati sa script. Sa mangyayari sa day. Everyday kailangan mong i-ready ‘yung mindset mo, ‘yung katawan mo, kasi hindi mo alam may action scenes ka talagang isho-shoot,” she shared.
This, on the other hand, sharpened her professionalism and humility, as well as her drive to do her job.
Maris shared that among the most unforgettable moments she had was performing a daring stunt. The actress had never done before in her career. She jumped from a building. There was also a scene when she rode a motorcycle while wearing angel wings, This scene required days of preparations.
“Sobrang memorable ‘yun for me kasi ilang araw ‘yung shoot and nakita ko na pinaghandaan talaga ni Direk Coco Martin ‘yung set para lang i-launch ‘yung character na si Ponggay. Sobrang na-appreciate ko ‘yun kasi sobrang collaborative ‘yung team. Sobrang ganda ng mga action scenes,” she shared.
Maris Racal also shared that playing Ponggay in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo left a lasting mark on her. She learned powerful lessons from her character, like standing firm for what she believes, and winning against temptations from elements around her.
