Barbie Forteza had a challenging project
Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza has her unique acting experience filming the movie Until She Remembers under the direction of Cannes Best Director winner Brillante Mendoza.
Barbie has been in the entertainment industry for quite a long time already, and she is among the brightest stars of her generation. Her new movie, under the direction of Direk Brillante, was something new for her since there was no actual script.
In the movie, Barbie plays Angel, a 16-year-old student navigating themes of love and loss alongside her grandmother, played by veteran actress Charo Santos. This project also featured Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo, plus Angel Aquino, Albert Martinez, and Eric Quizon amd was scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on February 25, 2026.

In a recent interview on Walang Kwentang Podcast, hosted by filmmakers Antoinette Jadaone and JP Habac, Barbie Forteza narrated the no-script setup they had on the movie’s set.
Working without a traditional script for the first time, Barbie described the setup as both challenging and raw. She said that Direk Brillante just explained to her the story and the nature of her character.
“Walang script, wala siyang binigay chinika niya lang… Walang script, all throughout the film, walang script. Yun ang working style ni Direk Brillante Mendoza,” the Kapuso actress said.

When Direk Antoinette asked, “Meron lang sigurong outline?” Barbie jokingly replied, “Yes, pero siguro nasa close friends niya.”
The actress also shared that Direk Brillante just told them to come to the set as they were, and he did not want them to prepare. At times, Barbie would ask their director what to do, and he would just say, “Sasakay ka sa bus, ‘tapos aabot yan hanggang EDSA. Baba ka, ‘tapos cut ako du’n’.”
Direk Brillante encouraged them to provide raw, unfiltered reactions that reflected real life. Since in reality, a person does not usually talk most of the time, their director did not provide lines. They were told to react according to the scene.
