Epy Quizon Proves It Is Never Too Late to Graduate

Epy Quizon Finally Fulfills Decades-Old Promise to Dolphy

EPY QUIZON – What began as an unfinished chapter in 1996 has now become a powerful story of perseverance for Epy Quizon.

After many years, Epy Quizon has finally fulfilled a deeply personal promise, one he made to himself and to his family. The 53-year-old actor proudly shared that he has completed his college degree at De La Salle University (DLSU), marking a milestone that took nearly three decades to achieve.

Epy dedicated the achievement to his parents and to his younger self, who had to leave school due to life’s challenges and the need for survival. In an emotional Instagram post, he shared a photo of himself in a toga, standing in front of the university.

In his heartfelt caption, he wrote, “Dear Self, thirty years ago, in 1996, you walked the halls of De La Salle University just a thesis away from graduation. Fear and circumstance pulled you away, and survival became more important than ceremony.”

“Pero nagbigay ka ng pangako. Through work, loss, responsibility, and time, that promise stayed quietly in your heart,” he continued.

Although his father, the late Comedy King Dolphy, was not able to witness his graduation, Epy expressed gratitude that his mother, who is turning 80 soon, will be able to see this achievement.

“Dad didn’t get to see this day. Mama, turning 80 soon, will. Today, you return — not as the young man who left, but as someone steadier, stronger, and faithful to his word,” he shared.

He further reflected on the meaning of his diploma, saying, “This diploma is more than paper. It is a promise kept. A prayer answered. A legacy for your children. It was never too late.”

“Congratulations. Animo!!! You finished what you started, and never did you fail,” he added.

In another post, Epy emphasized that finishing his degree was not just a personal triumph but also a tribute to his family.

“You did not just graduate. You fulfilled a promise. You honored your father’s memory. You gave your mother the gift of completion. You showed your siblings that perseverance runs in your shared blood. You proved to your children that a vow, no matter how delayed, is sacred,” he said.

He reiterated the deeper meaning behind the milestone: “This diploma is more than paper. It is integrity made visible. It is endurance framed on a wall. It is the legacy you leave to children and that it is never too late to finish what you start, never too late to rise again, never too late to become the person you once promised to be.”

Meanwhile, Epy is also part of the stage adaptation of About Us But Not About Us by Jun Robles Lana, alongside Elijah Canlas, Romnick Sarmenta, and Andoy Ranay. The show runs until March 8 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati.
