Derek Ramsay talked about his financial status
Filipino-British actor Derek Ramsay had this reaction to being tagged as a billionaire.
Derek’s financial status has been obvious to the public, considering that at some point, it was reported that he owns several luxury cars. Aside from his showbiz career, the actor also had financial sources outside the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Derek was asked to react to being called a “billionaire.”
“I don’t know why…. let’s just say, I’ve worked so hard. People tend to forget that I am 50 this year. I’ve been working my butt off for so long. I’ve saved. I’ve just been smart with the money that I’ve saved,” Derek Ramsay said.
However, he stressed that he is enjoying whatever he has. For him, there is no point in making use of the things he owns because these will all be useful if he’s gone. This was his reason why he would tell his parents to enjoy whatever they have. Why leave it for us? You gave us the best in life,” the actor said.
Derek also shared that he wanted to raise his children as his parents raised them, by not spoiling them. He said that his parents gave them all the best education, and for him, this is the only responsibility that parents have, including unconditional love.
“But working hard to leave all that money to them, I don’t think that really helps them in the long run. You know you need to teach them that they need to put in the hard work and make a name for themselves,” he emphasized. The actor added that he would tell his children not to wait for a hand-me-down.
Derek Ramsay also shared that he is a strict dad to his 21-year-old son, Austin, who is now studying abroad. The actor wanted to be there also for his daughter Lily, with his estranged wife, Ellen Adarna.
