Katrina Halili has been for her “kontrabida” roles
Kapuso actress Katrina Halili reacted to being tagged as “mataray” because of the multiple “kontrabida” roles that she portrayed.
Katrina rose to fame when she joined the Kapuso talent search StarStruck. After their season ended, even though she did not win, Katrina found success in the entertainment industry.
Most of the remarkable projects that she did were teleseryes with her portraying kontrabida roles, and fans have been admiring her effective acting.

Based on the article in Bandera, since Katrina Halili has portrayed antagonist roles many times in her 20 years in the entertainment industry, some people might think that she is “mataray” or “ill-tempered” in real life.
In a recent YouTube vlog that Katrina released, she answered this “misconception” about her. She did a lie detector test challenge with her ex-partner, R&B singer Kris Lawrence.
Fans have been loving the bonding that Katrina and Kris have with their 13-year-old daughter Katie.
In the vlog, Katrina shared that issues have been lingering regarding her alleged “mataray” attitude, whether in front of or behind the camera. “Pero minsan naman depende sa tao. Wow!” the Kapuso actress jokingly said, as she admitted that portraying kontrabida roles really affected how people perceived her.

Among the memorable antagonist roles she played were Marimar in 2007 and the television version of Darna in 2009.
“Sa sobrang galing ko, wow, masyadong tumatak. Charot! Ilang years din, e, siguro 21 years ata akong nagkontrabida pero minsan din naman depende sa tao na kaharap ko,” the actress said and laughingly added, “Ang truth ay mataray talaga!”
On the other hand, Katrina Halili stressed, “Di naman ako mataray.” She said that people might just misjudged her because of her voice and her physical features. For Katrina Halili, this may be her edge: even though she is not that good, people can see that she did justice to the “mataray” role.
In the same vlog, Katrina and Kris also shared their thoughts on the possibility of getting back together.
