Here’s Krystel Go’s Powerful Reaction to Online Negativity
KRYSTEL GO – Fresh from her historic MMFF Best Actress win, Krystel Go is proving that true strength lies in grace and forgiveness.
Krystel Go, the MMFF 2025 Best Actress for the film “I’m Perfect,” has chosen grace over conflict in the face of online criticism, responding to negativity with a heartfelt “God bless you.” Instead of engaging with bashers, the actress has remained firm in her belief that peace and focus are far more valuable than social media arguments.
In an interview on Kara David’s podcast “I-Listen with Kara David” on February 4, 2026, Krystel addressed the hurtful comments she has received following her historic win. As the first actress with Down Syndrome to receive the prestigious Best Actress award at the Metro Manila Film Festival, she has faced both overwhelming support and harsh criticism. Still, she refuses to let the negativity define her journey.

“Never akong lumalaban sa ganu’n. Walang mangyayari. Walang mangyayari sa work sa akin,” Krystel shared, underscoring her decision to stay focused on her craft rather than retaliate. For her, engaging in online conflict would only distract her from her work and personal growth.
Her mother, Amy Go, admitted that the insults directed at her daughter are painful. As a parent, she naturally feels the urge to defend Krystel. However, she chooses to support her daughter’s compassionate approach. “Masakit. Kasi siyempre meron naman talagang tawag sa kanila na dapat nilang gamitin. Pero ‘yun nga, kagaya ng sinasabi niya, na ‘God bless you’ na lang. Minsan masarap sabihin na, ‘Alam mo naman may karma tayo. Sana huwag dumating sa inyo ‘yun.’ Pero pangit, kaya huwag na lang. Yung ‘God bless you’ na lang,” Amy said.
Krystel’s Best Actress win for her portrayal of Jessica in “I’m Perfect” marked a turning point in Philippine cinema. The film, which also won Best Picture and Best Ensemble, highlighted inclusivity and representation on a national stage.

Recalling the awards night, Krystel said, “I was so happy. I did not expect it. Nilamig ‘yung kamay ko noon.” The recognition fulfilled a childhood dream. According to her mother, Krystel spent years practicing in front of the mirror, determined to become a performer.
Through talent, resilience, and unwavering positivity, Krystel Go continues to break barriers, proving that her achievement is not only historic but deeply inspiring.
