For her current acting project, Winwyn Marquez joined the cast of the new Kapuso series Never Say Die. In a recent media conference, based on the article in Bandera, the Kapuso star’s political background was mentioned.

Her father, veteran actor Joey Marquez, served as Parañaque Mayor, while her mother, veteran actress Alma Moreno, served as councilor in the same city.

Currently, Alma is serving as a Barangay Kagawad of Tambo, Parañaque. Winwyn’s brother Yeoj Marquez is also a councilor of the 1st District of the same city.

Winwyn Marquez said that she is proud of her mother, even though she is just handling a small position. “Proud ako sa kanya, kasi even if she has a small position, she really wants to make a difference, hindi niya kailangan ng mataas na posisyon para makatulong,” she said.

She added that her mom is enjoying what she is doing and that she is a true person. Then, Winwyn was asked if she plans to be in the political arena. “Actually dati po akong SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) pero politics para sa akin, not now,” she shared.

However, for now, she said that she is planning to be in politics because she still has a lot to learn. Then, she shared what Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda said about entering politics.

“I think si Vice Ganda yata yung nagsabi, bago ka pumasok diyan, you should have a knowledge, actually kulang na kulang pa yung kaalaman ko about the government,” the Kapuso actress said.

She said that she tries to help different organizations in the ways that she can, but not necessarily in the government. Winwyn Marquez also said that she doesn’t need a position now to help. As long as she can, she will extend help.

If the time comes that maybe magpa-politics ako then why not but now, I’ll help in ways that I can,” she added.
