Why Solenn Heussaff Finds Today’s Family Dinners Deeply Disturbing
SOLENN HEUSSAFF – Kapuso actress and celebrity mom Solenn Heussaff did not hold back as she shared her growing concern over a modern habit that, for her, is slowly breaking the essence of family bonding.
Solenn Heussaff recently expressed her disappointment over families who remain glued to their gadgets even while sharing a meal. During her first guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Thursday, January 22, Solenn candidly talked about how saddened she feels seeing technology take over moments that are meant for family connection.
In the interview, Solenn shared her observations from dining out with her own family, noting how common it has become for parents and children to be physically present at the same table but emotionally disconnected. “We’re at the restaurant a lot, and then I see all the families having dinner together but not together. ‘Yong dad nasa phone, ‘yong mom nasa phone, ‘yong isang baby nasa iPad, ‘yong mas maliit nanonood ng TV,” said Solenn.

Solenn Heussaff admitted feeling deeply frustrated by what she described as people’s growing dependence on instant gratification brought by technology. “I get so frustrated because I’m like, this is what we’ve become. We just want that fast, short-term dopamine. And it’s really horrible that you know, these multi-million dollar companies, that’s what they’re selling. They’re trying to make us overstimulated, and if we don’t get stimulated, and then we get bored. And if we get bored, we want to do something else,” the actress added.
According to Solenn, the constant noise and stimulation caused by modern technology pushed her to choose a quieter, more grounded way of living with her family. She shared that this led them to embrace what she called a “provincial lifestyle,” away from the chaos of the digital world. “And because we’re the transition generation, di’ba? We went from no phones to having everything at the tip of your fingers, with A.I. pa lalo ngayon. I don’t know, of course there’s so many great things you can do if you use it the right way. But I really feel like I just want to go back to the past. So, we moved to the past, we just do our own thing. We sleep at 7 PM, I wake up at 4 AM, mga ganon,” said Solenn.

During the same interview, the actress also opened up about her life as a mother and wife, as well as her enduring friendships with her fellow “IT girls” and long-time friends in the entertainment industry. She likewise mentioned her gradual return to acting.
Solenn was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry “Unmarry,” marking another milestone in her evolving career.
