Gladys Reyes Talks About Their MMFF Deliberation

The panel of judges of MMFF had a hard time in their deliberation

Primera Kontrabida Gladys Reyes talked about the deliberation that they had as she is part of the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) panel of judges.

Gladys has been in the industry for many years already. She is known as one of the prominent antagonists in TV series and movies. However, she is also versatile when it comes to portraying different roles.

With her experience as an actress and as part of the entertainment industry, she was chosed on the one of the 14 “hurados” for the deliberation of the winners in the MMFF 2025.

Based on the article in PEP, it took 6 hours for the judges to come up with their final decisions. “Merong mga naging mahigpit na magkakalaban,” Gladys Reyes shared.

Dr. Clodualdo del Mundo Jr. was the chairman, while Fr. Emmanuel “Nono” Alfonso was the vice-chairman. Also included in the panel of judges were Direk Jerrold Tarog, Ericson Navarro, David Angelo Vargas, Dr. Judy Taguiwalo, Prof. Anne Frances Sangil, Ricky Orellana, Nathalie Tomada, John Bryan Diamante, Alemberg Ang, Bing Advincula, and Irene Jose.

Gladys said that they really exchanged opinions on this year’s entries. “And sa deliberations, siyempre kanya-kanyang defense. Di ba? Yung dinedepensahan kung sino ang gusto nila,” the actress said.

However, she said that it was fun at the same time because there was respect for each other. This was Gladys’s first time being a juror. With the 42 years she spent in the entertainment industry, the actress said that she realized it was indeed hard to be part of the MMFF jury.

“Kasi ang daming magagaling. Siyempre halos lahat naman talaga sila, mahuhusay. Kaya mahirap talaga!” she said.

When asked if she was worried that some of her fellow celebrities might feel “tampo” for not winning, Gladys said that, as part of the jury, she was not thinking that this mattered because, for her, it was all about performance.
