Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Net Worth Continuously Grew during 6-Year Stint

Recently, several officials of the government including senators and congressmen released copies of their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth after Ombudsman Boying Remulla lifted the restrictions on the public access to the SALN of the government officials. He issued a memorandum that reversed the circular implemented by former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who resigned in July.
Then, the consent of the SALN owner was needed in requesting for an access to the said document. After lifting the restrictions, Ombudsman Boying Remulla called on the lawmakers to voluntarily disclose their SALNs to the public amid the massive corruption issues in the country.
All 24 senators have disclosed their SALN to the public. Recently, with the lifting of the restrictions on the public access to the SALN of the government officials, The Star has accessed former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s net worth from the Office of the Ombudsman.
Based on a report on The Philippine Star, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s net worth was at P37.305 million when his term as president ended in 2022 — P13.225 million higher compared to his net worth when his tenure began. In June 2016 when his term as president started, he declared a net worth of P24.080 million.
Based on his SALN, when he started his term as president, former Pres. Duterte declared assets worth P25.180 million. His liabilities then was at P1.1 million for a personal loan from Samuel Dy, a businessman based in Davao.
Then, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s net worth included real properties that are worth P4.485 million. They included four (4) residential house and lots, two (2) agricultural lots, and 8 residential lots. All the properties are in Davao City. He also recorded the following personal properties:
- a Volks Sedan acquired in 1978 — worth P40,000
- a Toyota Rav 4 acquired in 1996 — worth P800,000
- cash on hand and in bank — P15.305 million
- household appliances and furniture — worth P350,000
- jewelry — worth P300,000

Based on the report, in December 2017, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte declared a net worth of P28.540 million. The increase in his net worth was due to his cash on hand and bank savings. In 2018, his net worth further rose to P31.062 million.
By the end of 2019, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s net worth stood at P33.657 million. It further increased to P36.091 million in 2020 and P38.744 in 2021.
