Discaya luxury cars were auctioned
Discaya Luxury Cars Auction – Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) said that this is proof of the government’s commitment to hold those involved in the anomalous flood control funds accountable and return the money that belongs to the people.
The anomaly in flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was opened up when President Bongbong Marcos released a list of construction companies allegedly involved in this corruption.
One of the companies that was mentioned belonged to Curlee and Sarah Discaya. Prior to this, the couple flaunted their 38 luxury cars in a vlog on the YouTube channel of veteran journalist Julius Babao. The government seized their cars.

On November 20, seven of Discaya luxury cars were auctioned by the Bureau of Customs (BOC). Based on the article in GMA News, three of these were sold. BOC was able to collect P38,211,710.00 after three vehicles were sold to Simplex Industrial Corp. and Lestrell Jewelries.
Simplex Industrial got the Mercedes-Benz G500 (2019) Brabus and paid P15,500,000. The initial floor price of this was P7,843,239.43. The same company also got the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG (2022) that was sold at P15,611,710.00 against an initial floor price of P14,104,768.00. The bureau is expecting to collect a total of P103,865,125.97 if all seven luxury vehicles are sold.

Lestrell Jewelries paid the bid price of P7,100,000.00 for Lincoln Navigator (2022) against an initial floor price of P7,038,726.14.
In a report from News5, ICI chairperson Andres Reyer, Jr. said that this goes to show that the government is committed to holding those who are involved accountable.
“We are here today to restore what rightfully belongs to our countrymen. Asset recovery is a component of anti-corruption work because without it, the financial damage caused by these people cannot be repaired,” Reyes said.
