Mike Defensor Claims Zaldy Co’s Aide Was Beaten Up, NBI Allegedly Involved

Mike Defensor made this claim against NBI

Former lawmaker Mike Defensor accused the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) of being involved in an unlawful act done to John Paul Estrada, the aide of resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co.

Co, who is involved in the corruption issue, has been out of the Philippines since July for his medical check-up. In his video statement, he said that he was supposed to return to the country after President Bongbong Marcos’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

However, Co claimed that he was told by former House Speaker Martin Romualdez not to return to the Philippines, as allegedly instructed by the President.

Zaldy Co made claims against the President and the former House Speaker. He accused the cousins of masterminding the bicam budget insertion scheme. Allegedly, the President told him to have a P100 billion budget insertion.

The former congressman also accused Marcos and Romualdez of receiving kickbacks worth P56 billion. He also claimed that he received a death threat from Romualdez. Co said that he feared for his and his family’s lives.

On Monday, November 17, Bilyonaryo News Channel released a news item saying that Mike Defensor made an accusation against the NBI. Allegedly, Co’s aide, John Paul Estrada, and his wife were beaten up. It was also alleged that NBI had something to do with this.

Defensor added that fake passports were made for Estrada and his wife, and that they were flown to Chile to prevent Co’s aide from speaking up regarding the flood control scandal issue.

As of this writing, the NBI has not yet released a statement in response to the accusation made by Mike Defensor.

Meanwhile, Defensor also claimed that Senate witness Orly Guteza is being illegally detained by the intelligence unit of the Philippine Marines.
