Enrique Gil received criticism for this post about JPE
Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil shared a now-deleted post on his Instagram Story about the death of prominent political figure Juan Ponce Enrile.
On November 13, Enrile’s daughter, Katrina Ponce Enrile, confirmed that he died after spending time in the intensive care unit. Days prior to this, Senator Jinggoy Estrada said in a statement that they had a slim chance for her father’s survival because of his pneumonia.
The Chief Presidential Legal Counsel was 101 years old. In a statement released by Katrina, it was said that Enrile died at 4:21 p.m. on Thursday, November 13.
Katrina thanked everyone who showed love and sympathy to their family. “On behalf of our family, I extend our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support we have received during this difficult time. Your kindness means more than words can express,” she said in the statement.
It is known to many Filipinos that Juan Ponce Enrile had his fair share of controversial issues in politics. Because of this, his critics would always express their criticism on social media, especially regarding the corruption allegations against him.
However, Enrique Gil had a different tone for the late political figure. Based on the post from LionhearTV, the Kapamilya actor shared a post about Enrile’s death.
The screenshot of Enrique’s now deleted post showed a photo of the former Senator, and his caption was, “Rest in peace, sen [white dove emoji] Let’s not stress ourselves. Mananagot din ang mga taong nagdiriwang sa pagkawala mo [praying hands emoji].”
This was shared on Reddit, and netizens bashed the actor for this. A netizen commented that this is because Enrique Gil portrayed JPE in the Kapamilya drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK). Here are some comments.
