A Cebu Congressman received criticism because of this
Cebu Congressman Duke Frasco was slammed by netizens for his photo and name on relief goods that were distributed to the victims of Typhoon Tino.
The province of Cebu and nearby provinces in Visayas suffered from the effects of the strong typhoon. Many areas were flooded, homes were destroyed, and lives were lost.
Amid the effects of the calamity, the “bayanihan” spirit of Filipinos emerged. Groups and individuals helped the typhoon victims.

However, netizens did not like how Cong. Duke Frasco showed sympathy to his constituents in Cebu. Based on the article in PEP, the congressman received criticism after his team distributed relief goods to the victims of the recent typhoon.
It was because his face and his name were very visible on items included in relief goods, such as bottled water, instant coffee, and sardines.
On the official Facebook page of Cong. Frasco shared the distribution of the relief goods to his constituents.

“Padayon gihapon ang atong distribution of relief goods and conduct of feeding activities for our people in Liloan. Our efforts will not stop, even with our limited supply of relief goods,” he wrote in the caption of his post.
The post also stated that his team had already requested the assessment of all damages and casualties from the LGUs in the 5th District of Cebu, with the aim of giving the necessary assistance.
Frasco received negative comments because of the relief goods with his name and face on them. Here are some negative comments.

Meanwhile, accusations surfaced that the congressman was not in Cebu when Typhoon Tino happened. Allegedly, the Cebu Congressman was in London. A report from Sunstar Cebu stated that Duke Franco’s wife, DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, explained that they were in London sa part of the Philippine delegation for World Travel Market.
He can’t really be blamed for being in London when Cebu was hit by a typhoon. However, plastering his face and name all over the relief goods reeks of epal and grandstanding. The good he did by giving the relief goods out was, IMHO, eclipsed by the adverse publicity.
