Miss Universe 2025 Faces Backlash After Miss Mexico Was Reportedly Insulted
MISS UNIVERSE 2025 – A shocking scene unfolded at the Miss Universe 2025 sashing ceremony as contestants from around the world walked out in protest after Miss Mexico was reportedly insulted by a pageant official.
Tensions flared during the Miss Universe 2025 sashing ceremony in Thailand on November 4 when multiple contestants walked out following an alleged confrontation involving Miss Mexico.
Just days ahead of the much-awaited 74th Miss Universe grand coronation at the Impact Challenger Hall in Nonthaburi, Thailand, the event took a dramatic turn after the head of the host country’s organizing committee, Nawat Itsaragrisil, reportedly insulted Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch.

Reports revealed that Nawat reprimanded Miss Mexico for allegedly declining to participate in a sponsor photo shoot, opting instead to join only the pre-pageant events organized by Telemundo. After explaining her decision, Nawat supposedly gave her an ultimatum to either remain in the competition or leave. Consequently, Miss Mexico decided to walk out.
Her bold move was quickly followed by several contestants from Latin America, Asia, and Africa who walked out in support. Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Theilvig also took a stand and left the venue alongside Miss Mexico.
“We have respect for everyone, but this is not how things [should] be handled. To trash another girl is beyond disrespectful,” Theilvig said in an interview.
“It’s nothing I as a girl can stand into. That’s why I’m taking my phone and I’m going,” she added tearfully.
A viral video from the event showed Nawat calling for security, but despite his efforts, several contestants continued to leave the ceremony.
Following the incident, the Miss Universe Thailand organization and the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) reportedly intervened to address the misunderstanding. The sashing ceremony was eventually resumed, although Nawat was noticeably absent.
The controversy emerged amid existing tensions between MUO President Raul Rocha and Nawat, who currently leads Miss Universe Thailand and also founded Miss Grand International. The incident has since sparked discussions about professionalism and mutual respect in the global pageant industry.
