A private citizen urged ICI to investigate FL Liza Marcos
First Lady Liza Marcos is accused of being involved in the anomalous flood control projects.
Several political figures have been under fire as they were mentioned among the people who allegedly received kickbacks from ghost projects. Amid the issue in flood control projects, President Bongbong Marcos, through Executive Order No. 94, ordered the establishment of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
The commission aimed to investigate irregularities in flood control projects, as well as the infrastructure projects built over the years.

Based on the October 21 report from Abante, the ICI was urged to investigate the alleged connection between First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Special Envoy to China Maynard Ngu in the flood control scam.
Private citizen John Santander, who is also a cultural and peace advocate, submitted his letter of sentiment to ICI Chair Andres Reyes, enclosing two photos of the First Lady and Ngu together at several public events.
Santander said in his letter that it worries him that Ngu had not been invited to appear before the commission. In the letter, the private citizen also emphasized the possibility that the First Lady also benefited from Ngu and the other way around.
Santander also mentioned that there were several reports. This included Ngu’s alleged recommendation of Palace appointments from a list that the First Lady allegedly provided and was given to former Executive Secretary Atty. Vic Rodriguez.

The list also allegedly included Ngu’s recommendation of Roberto Bernardo as senior undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Santander also states in his letter that Ngu’s appointment as Special Envoy to China for Trade, Investment, and Tourism was also possibly due to his connection to the First Lady.

Included in the letter was a cited report from Bilyonaryo News Channel about the Cork Wine Bar owned by Ngu, where Bernardo allegedly spoke with Senator Chiz Escudero about infrastructure projects.
Previously, Bernardo said that Escudero allegedly bribed Ngu for his ‘kickbacks’ in infrastructure projects. Santander also included two photos of FL Liza Marcos with Maynard Ngu. As of this writing, the Palace has yet to release a statement regarding this.
