Coco Martin talked about his primetime TV series
Kapamilya actor-director Coco Martin expressed gratitude to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for its guidance.
Coco is the lead actor and director of the Kapamilya primetime action-drama series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. The series contains some action scenes that could be alarming to younger viewers.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Balita, Coco revealed that MTRCB would call them out often. However, he is thankful for the agency.
For the 40th anniversary of MTRCB, Coco Martin expressed gratitude. “Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng guidance na ibinibigay nila sa amin. Honestly, lagi kaming pinapatawag ng MTRCB para bigyan ng gabay,” he said,
Since his show is an action series, Coco admitted that sometimes they go beyond what is allowed by MTRCB on free TV. “Nandiyan naman si [MTRCB] chairman Lala Sotto para gabayan kami,” the Kapamilya actor said.
It was said that Chair Sotto is happy that Coco is always present in her office to have their dialogues regarding a certain episode.
For Coco Martin, this is a way of showing respect to the agency and the people leading it. The actor said that through the guidance from MTRCB, they would know their limitation since many younger viewers are watching their series.
Meanwhile, in a previous interview, Coco shared that he is not a fan of K-dramas or South Korean series. He shared that there had been offers for him to do a K-drama adaptation, but he refused these kinds of projects.
The actor said that he wanted to promote the Filipino culture and what Filipino artists can do in producing original content.
In that interview, Coco Martin also answered the bashing that he received for not joining the September 21 rally. He stressed that through the show that he creates, he is already expressing his predicaments and views when it comes to social and political issues.
