Shuvee Etrata Makes Emotional Plea After Deadly Earthquake
SHUVEE ETRATA – Cebu-born actress Shuvee Etrata could not hold back her emotions as she appealed for medical volunteers following the powerful earthquake that shook her hometown.
Actress Shuvee Etrata, who hails from Cebu, turned to social media to appeal for help following the devastating earthquake that struck the province earlier this week. The magnitude 6.9 quake, recorded by PHIVOLCS off the northern coast of Cebu, left at least 69 people dead, over 200 injured, and caused significant damage to homes, roads, and public structures.
On Instagram, Etrata shared an art card that read: “Cebu Province is in need of MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS to augment manpower especially in the north. If you want to volunteer now and in the next days please call 0915-330-3293.” She also posted a heartfelt caption in Cebuano: “Akong pag ampo, naa sa inyo Cebu. Labaw na sa mga taga Sana Remigio,” which translates to “My prayer is with you in Cebu, especially with the people of San Remigio.”

San Remigio, one of the towns severely hit by the tremor, has been struggling with casualties and overwhelmed emergency services. With hospitals operating beyond capacity and rescue teams stretched thin, authorities declared the province under a state of calamity. The declaration allows faster mobilization of funds and resources, but officials continue to appeal for assistance, particularly in the form of food, clean water, and medical supplies.
Etrata’s emotional call resonated with many netizens who praised her for using her platform to highlight urgent needs on the ground. The actress, who has previously faced backlash over resurfaced political posts, has been making efforts to rebuild her public image. She earlier apologized for past statements, acknowledging their impact and emphasizing her commitment to growth and responsibility. Her management has also expressed support, clarifying that she is not affiliated with any political group and commending her for focusing on meaningful advocacy.

As rescue operations continue and families begin the long process of recovery, calls like Etrata’s are helping to draw national attention to Cebu’s dire situation. For many survivors, every volunteer and every donation could mean the difference between life and loss in the aftermath of one of the province’s deadliest quakes in recent years.
