Carla Abellana talked about politics
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana admitted that she was tempted to enter politics, and this was the reason.
Carla is one of the celebrities in the Philippine entertainment industry who is very vocal about her opinions on certain issues in the country. She is known for being an animal rights advocate and would call out certain people, groups, or companies when issues arise.
With a series of call-outs, the actress earned the tag “Patron Saint of Call Out and Accountability,” while some people call her “Patron Saint of Concerned Citizens.”
She was also open about criticizing the corruption issue that has been making a buzz. The actress was one of the celebrities who reacted to the photo showing a pile of money inside the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) amid the flood control project anomalies.
With her natural responses to national and political issues, Carla Abellana admitted during a recent interview on GMA’s talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that she was once tempted to run for a government position.
“Honestly, may times, tempted po ako, for the wrong reasons, kasi sa totoo lang sa lahat ng kalokohang nangyayari po sa bansa natin, sa politics pa lang, ang daling sabihin, ‘Gusto ko na rin mag-politics because I want to make as much as they’re making. Gusto ko rin ng lavish lifestyle. Gusto ko rin mag-travel. Gusto ko rin ng mga billion-billion,’” the actress shared.
However, the actress said that she will not enter the political arena because she does not want to set aside his integrity. She said that she still has her conscience, and she cannot see herself in politics. “And obviously, ayoko naman po kung sakaling papasok ng politics for the wrong reasons,” she added.
In the same interview, Carla Abellana also shared her thoughts on the ongoing issue of anomalous flood control projects. She said that this really angered her, and this was her first time feeling this kind of anger.
It is because she is an obedient taxpayer and she pays her taxes. It is hurtful for taxpayers like her, regardless of the amount.
“The fact na nagbabayad po kayo ng taxes, dapat magalit po kayo. All the more for us kasi grabe po, ’yung eagle eyes po sila sa atin in terms of taxes. Wala po tayong lusot,” Carla said.
The actress just wished that there were people who would be held accountable, and those who were behind this should be punished.
