Andi Eigenmann Raises Alarm Over Siargao’s Future
ANDI EIGENMANN – Known for her simple island lifestyle, Andi Eigenmann has broken her silence to call for urgent protection of Siargao’s fragile ecosystems.
Andi Eigenmann recently turned to social media to voice her concern over the rapid changes she has observed in Siargao, highlighting the pressure brought about by rising tourism and unregulated development.
Having chosen to build a life on the island with her family, the former actress shared how Siargao was once cherished for its unspoiled beauty, simplicity, and close-knit community. Now, however, she feels that the island’s true character is slowly being eroded by commercialization.

Through an Instagram Story, Andi recalled how visitors used to seek out the island for its authenticity, saying: “Gone are the days when people came to Siargao simply to enjoy the island for what it truly is! To surf, to connect with the locals, to celebrate without needing to post every moment!”
She expressed sadness over how the island’s spirit of community and respect for nature is being overshadowed, with Siargao increasingly portrayed as nothing more than a backdrop for social media and business ventures. She continued:
“Back then, being here meant being part of a community and respecting the rhythm of nature.”
Her worries also extended to the environmental impact of development projects. She criticized outsiders for modifying untouched coastlines in favor of building luxury villas, remarking:
“Now we see others coming in for the estetiiqqqq, for the siargao is my home bruhhh. Those who are completely missing the point!! Some even go as far as backhoe-ing beachfronts for their luxury villas, touching what has not been touched for a reason. What they don’t realize is that when you disrupt nature, it will never be the same again. (Or do they realize this and simply just. Dont. Give. A d@mn?).”

Although she admitted that she rarely engages in online discourse, Andi stressed that this issue is too urgent to ignore:
“I dont like chiming in to these issues on social media, but this island, needs to be protected. For the locals who are its TRUE stewards, for the surf that made it special, and for the generations to come!”
Her statement reflects the increasing call among residents and environmental advocates to promote sustainable tourism, ensuring that Siargao’s natural environment and cultural identity are safeguarded for the future.
