Netizens reacted to the Louis Vuitton bag that businessman Curlee Discaya wore during the Senate hearing for the anomalous flood control projects.
Curlee and his wife, Sarah Discaya’s names were involved in the alleged flood control project controversy as their companies were accused of having anomalous deals with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Prior to the Senate hearing, the couple went viral when their interviews with veteran journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao resurfaced. This was triggered by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto’s social media post stating that a monetary favor was probably given for those feature interviews.
In the vlog, Sarah and Curlee Discaya showed their “rags to riches” story. They even showcased a huge parking area where their 38 luxury cars were parked.
With this, the couple received bashing online for having a lavish lifestyle, and allegedly, it came from the people’s money.
During the Senate hearing on September 18, Curlee faced the Senators for questioning, but he was not with his wife, Sarah. He was cited in contempt for allegedly lying about the reason why his wife was not able to attend the hearing on that day. Sarah sent a letter saying that she had an important meeting, while Curlee said that his wife was not feeling well.
In the same hearing, netizens noticed that the businessman was wearing a Louis Vuitton clutch box. The said luxury item costs approximately half a million pesos. This was shared on Reddit, and netizens once again criticized Curlee Discaya.
