For many years, Piolo has been on the list of celebrities who are top taxpayers. In a recent interview, he was asked about being a top taxpayer who is also aware of recent corruption issues in the country.

In recent days, it was exposed that there were ghost projects and overpriced structures, like the flood control projects, under the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Piolo Pascual was asked in an interview, posted on TV5’s entertainment reporter MJ Marfori’s TikTok account, about being a taxpayer amid the loud buzz that he corruption issue is making right now.

The A-list actor said that it is painful to him because he has back taxes that he needs to pay. “Parang hindi ko babayaran, pambibili lang naman nila ng luxury goods,” the actor said and then laughed. “Pambabyahe lang naman nila, hindi, joke lang,” he quipped.

Although this is painful for him, he said that he needs to abide. Being in showbiz and a public figure, Piolo is aware that they can be subject to auditing.

He said that he is no longer thinking deeply about the taxes he is paying and where it is being spent. When asked if he monitors the amount of taxes he needs to pay, Piolo said that he frequently thinks about this. “Bakit, tapos hindi mo naman nakikita ang nangyayari,” he said.

The actor said that he chose not to think about this because it is “nakakapikon.” Piolo Pascual just hopes that people involved in corruption would have a conscience because this is shameful.
