Lino Cayetano did not agree with his brother
Director Lino Cayetano contradicted his brother Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s statement about corruption.
This goes to show that the siblings are not yet okay because of the past political conflict that they had. To recall, Lino ran for congressman of the first district of Taguig City-Pateros in the 2025 midterm elections. Unfortunately, he did not win.
His opponent was Ricardo Cruz, the candidate supported by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano. The conflict between the siblings could not have been publicized if Lino had not spoken about this in November 2024, based on the article in PEP.

Lino Cayetano said that he and his brother haven’t talked to each other since 2022. That conflict apparently still exists until now because of how Lino contradicted Sen. Alan.
On September 14, the lawmaker shared a post about corruption. āAs a people, Iām not pointing fingers. Weāre all guilty from vote buying to cheating, stealing and lying. What matters is repentance,” Alan Peter Cayetano wrote.
Lino answered this with a lengthy statement. He said that he does not agree with what his older brother said, and for him, this was a statement from a “traditional politician.”
The director also said that Filipinos want a peaceful, happy, and comfortable life, in which their needs are met. He stressed that it was never a normal thing for corruption to exist.

“Hindi likas ang magnakaw, bumili ng boto, magsinungaling, at hindi din solusyon at absolusyon ang pag ‘repent’ lamang,” Lino said, adding that a new set of leaders should emerge and that the “old guards” should resign.
Lino Cayetano also stressed that repentance is not enough. For him, after the confession, there should be reform. “For those who will ārepentā, we need confessions and reform ā sabi nga ng isang magaling na bagong cabinet secretary, hindi lang kaso ā isoli ang pera ng tao ā ituloy ang reporrma at tumulong ihanda ang susunod na set of leaders to lead our country the right way,” the director said.
After this, Lino emphasized, “Letās not normalize corruption. Let’s fight it!
