CHITO SAMONTINA – The online community continues to react after Brader’s controversial post, with fellow Davao vlogger Chito Samontina offering a mix of compassion and guidance in an open letter.

Davao-based content creator Chito Samontina has weighed in on the controversy surrounding fellow vlogger Crist Briand Oncoda, more popularly known online as “Brader.” On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Samontina shared an open letter on social media after Brader issued a public apology to the Muslim community.

The backlash began when Brader made a “Baboy na Halal” remark on social media, a post that sparked outrage for showing disrespect toward Muslim beliefs. He later expressed regret for his actions, delivering his apology in Davao City on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

“I sincerely apologize for the post I made, which offended members of the Muslim community. I understand that my words and actions were inappropriate and caused pain, and I take full responsibility,” Brader stated.

Taking accountability, Brader revealed plans to step away from vlogging for a while. “I will refrain from creating and posting any content for a month. I will attend a psychiatric consultation together with my mother in order to better understand myself and my actions,” he added.

In response, Samontina acknowledged the controversy but chose to extend compassion to his fellow vlogger. “Tuohan ko ang sinseradad sa imong pag-pangayo og pasaylo… Buot nakong tuohan nga taliwala sa imong mga ginapakita sa social media, usa ka ka maayong tao,” he wrote, highlighting his belief in Brader’s sincerity and underlying character.

Samontina encouraged Brader to use the break as an opportunity to reflect and return to the platform with greater accountability. He also advised him to focus on producing content that is “safe for all ages, colors, races, and gender orientations,” pointing out the importance of inclusive and respectful online engagement.

Before ending his letter, Samontina commended Brader for admitting his mistake and starting a journey of personal change. He praised him for taking a step toward becoming a “new self,” a decision many hope will lead to positive transformation in his career as a digital creator.
