Carla Abellana and Ciara Sotto are “nepo babies”
Female celebrities Carla Abellana and Ciara Sotto talked about the advantages and disadvantages of being “nepo babies.”
Carla and Ciara established their names as actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry. Even though they both worked hard for their careers in showbiz, it is known to many that their parents were successful.
Carla is the daughter of former Aurea Reyes and veteran actor Rey PJ Abellana. Her grandmother is Delia Razon. while Ciara’s parents are actor-turned-politician Tito Sotto and veteran actress Helen Gamboa.
In a recent interview by The Philippines Star entertainment writer Dolly Anne Carvajal, she asked Ciara Sotto and Carla Abellana about being nepo babies.
The term “nepo baby” is short for nepotism baby. It refers to someone whose career is similar or related to the career of his or her successful parents.
Ciara shared that when she was young, she would think that people were just being nice to her because of her parents. “It was also quite hard being compared to my beautiful mom,” she said. However, with a solid support system, which is her family, this did not give her any negative things.
For Ciara, this is a blessing and a privilege. She is proud of her parents not just because of what they have achieved but because of their God-fearing trait, kindness, and generosity. Ciara Sotto also shared that her parents taught her how to love and pray. The actress added that her parents are the best example of humility.
For Carla Abellana, the advantage of being a nepo baby is that she got to meet a lot of amazing people who worked with her grandfather and her father.
“I enjoy listening to their stories about the good old days with my dad and Lola. It’s heartwarming to hear genuine praises about both of them,” the Kapuso actress said.
When it comes to disadvantages, Carla said that people would expect that she is just good, skilled, and talented, and as humble as her grandma. She said that this can be avoided, but it is not that easy because she is carrying the same name in the industry.
