BLACKPINK’s Rosé Honors Bruno Mars and Childhood Dreams at VMAs
BRUNO MARS – The 2025 MTV VMAs turned into an emotional night for Rosé as she accepted the Song of the Year award for her hit collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT.”
Bruno Mars and Rosé’s collaboration “APT” claimed the coveted Song of the Year award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), marking a milestone moment for both artists. While Bruno Mars was absent from the ceremony, Rosé proudly accepted the honor on their behalf, delivering an emotional and heartfelt speech that resonated with fans across the globe.
“Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe this. Thank you so much. I prepared something ’cause I didn’t want to mess this up, and I feel like this is a really big moment for myself and a lot of other people. And so, if you don’t mind me, I’ll speed through this, hopefully,” Rosé began, visibly overwhelmed.

She expressed her deep gratitude to Bruno Mars, acknowledging his role in the creation of the track. “First of all, Bruno, I know that you’re watching… Oh, my God… First of all, thank you so much, Bruno. I can’t believe this. I’m gonna call you up after, so I’ll say everything. Thank you so much for believing in me and helping me build this world together. I’m really, really forever grateful for you, and our friendship, and everything.”
The BLACKPINK member also shared a powerful reflection on her journey, recalling her struggles as a teenager who once felt out of place. “Someone asked me the other day what my fear in life was, and I was quite shocked at my own response… Twelve years later, I dedicate this award to my 16-year-old self, who dreamed, and to all those who have watched me grow into the artist that I am today.”
Rosé extended her appreciation to the songwriters, producers, and her BLACKPINK bandmates, saying, “I hope you’re proud. Blackpink members Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa…” She also acknowledged her perseverance, crediting her resilience in overcoming challenges.

In closing, Rosé gave a touching nod to her mentor. “Again, Bruno, my absolute idol and incredible teacher, I love you so much,” she said before thanking MTV and fans for their unwavering support.
The win for “APT” cements its place as one of 2025’s most celebrated anthems, blending artistry, discipline, and heartfelt storytelling.
