Sarah Discaya defended her company
Businesswoman Sarah Discaya said that she also has the right to earn money after 23 years of running her contracting firms.
Discaya and her companies became controversial after Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto called out veteran journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao for their alleged “paid interview” with the businesswoman.
From that, the alleged anomalies in flood control projects involving Disaya’s companies were opened up.

On September 1, 2025, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control projects was held. During the hearing, based on the report from The Philippine Star, when Sen. Erwin Tulfo was questioning her, she claimed that she had already divested from her contracting firms.
“We are no longer part of those companies,” the businesswoman said. A few seconds later, she admitted that she is the chief finance officer, which prompted Sen. Rodante Marcoleta to ask, “Naintindihan niyo po yung divest?”
When she was asked by Sen. Tito Sotto asked her regarding her statement in a vlog interview, featuring her luxury cars, that their billions started when she started dealing with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH, Sarah Discaya said that it was spliced.

She even stressed that they have been in the business for over two decades already. “We have been in the construction business for 23 years. I presume in the 23 years, puwede naman po siguro kaming kumita,” she said.
Discaya also stressed that before they were contracting with the local government unit (LGU) until they eventually worked with the DPWH.
Her father started the construction company, and she said that they started working with DPWH sometime in 2012. When asked by Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa when they started doing flood control projects with the government agency, Sarah Discaya said that it was in 2016 onwards.
