Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino was slammed by netizens because of her “E-Ayuda” raffle contest for flood victims.
Many parts of Luzon were flooded over the past few days because of the typhoon. Classes had been suspended for several days now, as well as work in government agencies. Netizens have been sharing photos and videos on social media about the flood scenarios in their areas.
Mayor Lem also asked her constituents to share their flood photos. However, many netizens did not like this for one single reason.
The politician told the residents of Calumpit, Bulacan, to share their selfie photos with their families inside their flooded homes.
This is part of the Calumpit Mayor’s raffle contest, she called “E-Ayuda ni Mayor Lem.” Calumpiteno just have to comment on the post with their photos or videos on the post, including their name, barangay, and GCash number.
Raffle contest participants should also share the post and tag their Facebook friends. They should make sure as well that they are following the Mayor’s Facebook page.
In the comment section of the post, netizens slammed the Calumpit Mayor. The Mayor’s FB Page also reminded the participants to follow the mechanics in order to be included on the list of official raffle entries.
This garnered laugh and angry reactions from the online community. Many netizens who commented on this criticized the politician.
A netizen pointed out that there should be no raffle entries because the residents were all flood victims. Some netizens had funny comments about this. “Squid Game po ba trip niyo?” a netizen commented, referring to a Korean series that is about winning a deadly contest.
Another netizen pointed out that there is a right time for a raffle contest, and during the time of the flood, this is inappropriate.
