The Price Rhian Ramos Paid for Being Mitena
RHIAN RAMOS – Actress Rhian Ramos revealed the deep emotional and physical struggles she endured while portraying the villainous Mitena in Sang’gre.
The magical realm of Encantadia returns to television through Sang’gre, featuring Rhian Ramos in the spotlight as Mitena—the fierce and emotionally distant queen of Mine-a-ve.
Rhian’s depiction of the antagonist is both gripping and emotionally rich, as she channels Mitena’s deep-seated rage and thirst for revenge against those who oppose her. In the GMA primetime fantasy series, Rhian delivers a performance that is both emotionally intense and authentic, immersing herself entirely in the role.
Rhian Ramos felt genuinely privileged to be handpicked as the sole choice for the character. Accepting the part came without hesitation. During her interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Rhian opened up about the process of building Mitena’s personality: “Naniniwala ako na walang taong pinapanganak ng masama… Iyon ang ginamit ko for Mitena.”
To embody the commanding presence of a queen, she also made the conscious decision to lower her voice, lending more authority to the character.
Playing Mitena took a toll on her both mentally and physically. Expressing such powerful emotions—like anger and grief—over a two-year span impacted her health. After wrapping up the series, Rhian decided to undergo a Botox treatment.
“Masyado akong nagalit. Gusto ko hindi gumagalaw like ayaw ko nang magalit,” she confessed. She also shared, “Gusto ko na lang magpa-spa, magpaganda… so that’s a long time to be angry every day.”
Away from the camera, Rhian is a devoted partner to Sam Verzosa, especially when he faced the disappointment of his failed mayoral campaign. “Iniyakan niya din ako but it’s understandable… Saka every day niyang pinaghirapan iyon,” she said.
The couple continues to thrive despite life’s ups and downs. Talk of marriage has become more serious over time. “Yes, we talk about it… it comes up at a random moment,” Rhian admitted.
Her connection with Sam’s family has grown stronger too. Their European vacation gave her a joyful glimpse into a bigger and more vibrant family life—something she deeply values.
With her heartfelt acting and solid personal life, Rhian is gracefully balancing both love and career.
