Pokwang Sympathizes With Vendors During Typhoon

Pokwang knows the predicaments of vendors

Kapuso comedienne-host Pokwang showed sympathy to vendors during the recent typhoon.

Pokie came from humble beginnings in the Philippine entertainment industry. She was a former overseas Filipino worker who eventually had the chance to be a backup dancer in ABC 5’s Eezy Dancing.

From that, she was able to have more opportunities in showbiz. She is currently one of the main hosts of the Kapuso morning variety show TiktoClock with Kuya Kim Atienza.

Aside from her regular show, guest appearances, provincial shows, and stints abroad, Pokwang also has several businesses. This is apparently the reason why she understands the predicaments of vendors, especially during a typhoon.

In a recent Instagram Story that she shared, Pokie said that she told Manang Gina not to ask discount from vendors in the market.

“Manang Gina went to the market; I asked her not to ask the vendors to lower their prices anymore and to let them earn an income somehow. The vendors who work during typhoons face a difficult situation. Even in the flood, they are still trying to earn a living. Take care, everyone,” she wrote.

Even the Metro Manila area has been experiencing flooding these past days because of the typhoon. Based on the article in the Inquirer, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said in a press briefing on Wednesday that the “improper garbage disposal” by Filipinos is one of the reasons for floods in the country.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) stated that 70 percent of the drainage system in Metro Manila is already clogged, which was the reason why it was not able to control the flooding.

Meanwhile, Pokwang’s social media post weeks ago caught netizens’ attention. It was because she reminded PBB Gen 11 Big Winner Fyang Smith to be humble. Then, the Kapuso comedienne revealed that she and her daughter Malia received threats from Fyang’s fan because of her “be humble” advice.
