Jake Cuenca talked about his character in ‘Batang Quiapo’
Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca had a conscious effort to make an impact in the action-drama series Batang Quiapo with his character Miguelito.
Jake has done various roles on TV and in movies. There were times when his character was well-loved, but sometimes, he was the most-hated one among his antagonist characters.
His latest acting project is the Kapamilya project with Coco Martin as the lead star. In this series, Jake gave life to the character of Miguelito.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, Jake Cuenca said he made a point to create an impact with his character. “So the intention really was to go into the show and make an impact… Now, everywhere I go, people call me Miguelito, congressman or mayor,” the actor said.
In order to create an impact, Jake had to do something with his physical appearance. He created a certain smile that became his trademark. With this, the viewers have already gotten used to his character.
“That creepy, fake, exaggerated smile… I had to come up with that. If you think about it, this (character) is so close to ‘Viral Scandal,’ so how do I make it different? I had to produce a smile that’s not my smile in real life or in a leading man role or charmer kind of guy,” he said.

Then, Jake said he is using this weapon and he will continue to use this. For him, it is a device and tool that he discovered within his role. With his smile as Miguelito, netizens thought that he had veneer teeth.
Previously, the actor clarified that his teeth are 110 percent natural. Jake also does not mind getting bashed. For him, the bashing is a form of motivation.
The actor would take in the bashing and everything in the entertainment industry. He knows that the negative comments are part of being in the limelight. “The bashing motivates me. Kaya ganun ka-intense yung mga sequences. The praises I also take them — they inspire me,” he shared.
Jake Cuenca added that this is how the industry works, and he said that he loves the nature of the beast. He pointed out that there was a time when there was no “tsismis” and the industry was in a “plateau.”
Now, Jake said that when he searches his name online, he is trending. He does not mind the reason behind his virality. “Whether it’s the LSS (campaign jingle of Miguelito complete with dance steps), the veneers, the performance… I do appreciate being talked about,” the actor said.
