John Prats’ Candid Confession About Heart Evangelista in Their G-mik Days
JOHN PRATS – Long before they became established stars, John Prats and Heart Evangelista were a beloved on-screen pair—and now, Prats is spilling behind-the-scenes secrets.
John Prats recently reminisced about his early years in showbiz, particularly his experience being paired with Heart Evangelista in a popular love team. Evangelista, who eventually became his girlfriend in real life, was part of his journey during the early 2000s. In a YouTube vlog interview with Luis Manzano aired on July 1, Prats shared funny and heartfelt moments from their time together.
“When ‘G-mik’ started, I didn’t have a love team… I enjoyed that because I didn’t have to think about anything. I didn’t want to be in a love team,” Prats admitted, revealing that he initially preferred to work independently rather than be in an onscreen partnership. Eventually, the management decided to pair him with various actresses until he ended up with Evangelista.
“I was surprised when Heart became my loveteam partner. I initially didn’t want to be in a team-up with her because she was so finicky when we were young,” he said, eliciting laughter from Manzano. Prats continued by saying, “Heart was very finicky when it comes to her makeup and caboodles when she was young. Our personalities were completely opposite.”
He went on to admit that there was “no attraction at all” at the beginning of their partnership. “But it was warmly welcomed by fans,” he noted. “So our love team really worked because of their support.” Despite their differences, their chemistry resonated with audiences, making them a fan favorite.
According to Prats, the only criticism they encountered came from “reporters” who, he claimed, spread false narratives about them. After their romantic and professional split, which lasted for about two years, Prats faced difficult times in his career but remained on good terms with Evangelista.
In a surprising twist, Evangelista later became instrumental in Prats’ love life once again. “When I was courting Liv (Isabel), I went to her filming set not knowing that Heart was her co-star. It was my first meeting with Heart after a very long time,” he shared. “In all fairness to Heart, she rooted for me and Liv. She backed me up on courting Liv,” he said, showing the depth of their lasting friendship.
