DARRYL YAP – Director Darryl Yap shared his frustration online following reports that his mother was allegedly treated poorly by a doctor in an Olongapo clinic.
Darryl Yap recently took to Facebook to express his frustration over an unpleasant experience his mother allegedly had with a doctor at a clinic in Olongapo City, Zambales. On July 3, Yap shared details of the incident, claiming that his mother was disrespected by a medical professional at Medical City SM Olongapo Central because she was dressed in casual clothes — specifically, a t-shirt and shorts.
In a post that gained attention online, Yap sarcastically asked for suggestions on where his mother could rent an evening gown for her next clinic visit, hinting at the apparent judgment she faced based on her attire. He remarked that his mother would be returning to the same clinic the next day and hoped the doctor would treat her more kindly.
Yap also tagged Olongapo City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino Jr. and Zambales First District Representative Jay Khonghun in his post, seeking to draw official attention to the situation. In the comment section, a person claiming familiarity with the clinic said Yap’s mother had waited nearly an hour before being attended to. The same individual added that other patients had also complained about the doctor’s behavior, though those concerns reportedly remained unaddressed.
Following the incident, Yap said he contacted the clinic’s management, who responded by promising to set a meeting between his mother and the doctor to discuss and possibly resolve the issue.
This incident sheds light on ongoing concerns about how patients are treated in medical environments. It raises questions about the importance of courtesy, respect, and professionalism from healthcare providers, regardless of a patient’s clothing or social standing.
