Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado value their family
Kapuso couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado talked about their success in having a blended family.
Dennis has a son named Calix with his former beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, while Jennyly has a son named Jazz with actor Patrick Garcia. The couple has a daughter named Dylan. The three kids are very close.
Jennylyn and Dennis are working hand in hand in raising their three kids. In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the Kapuso couple talked about their blended family.
They were asked how they were able to have a successful blended family. Dennis Trillo stressed the importance of giving value to one another. He said that as parents, they should make their kids feel that they are being treated fairly and are being loved unconditionally.
The actor also shared that he exerted extra effort when it comes to taking care of Jazz. Just recently, Dennis slammed bashers who say derogatory words about Jazz’s condition.
Jennylyn said that Jazz grew up with Dennis. They were together when Jazz was only one year old, while Dennis’s son Calix was two.
When asked what they did when their children asked about their situation, they said that they explained this when they were younger.
“Habang maaga pa lang, may paliwanag na sa kanila kesa makarinig pa sila ng hindi magandang chismis sa ibang tao at masasaktan sila.” Dennis shared.
For him, it is also important that the children have acceptance of their situation so that their blended family will work.
Jennylyn shared that she never had a problem with Calix. The kid accepted her, and Dennis felt lucky that his son accepted the actress wholeheartedly. Dennis also shared that Calix had a lot of questions now that he is already a big boy, but it helped a lot that they were able to explain to them their situation at a young age.
The Kapuso couple also shared that in order to treat their kids fairly, they don’t spoil them. “Walang maso-spoil, pinaghihirapan lahat ng bagay, so sa bahay, ang setup namin, ganu’n. Kahit kay Jazz. Kahit na alam natin na may pecial needs si Jazz, disiplinado pa rin siya,” Jennylyn Mercado shared. Dennis Trillo added that they don’t spoil even their youngest Dylan.
