Kylie Padilla and Kazel Kinouchi play as best friends in this new Kapuso series
Kapuso actresses Kylie Padilla and Kazel Kinouchi talked about their characters in the afternoon series My Father’s Wife.
In the series, both Kylie and Kazel’s characters are in love. Kylie played the character of Gina while Kazel gave life to the character of Betsy. They are best friends.
Gina came from a well-off family, while Betsy belonged to the working class. Kylie’s character gave Kazel’s character an idea to enter into a marriage of convenience to support the latter’s American dream. Betsy’s boyfriend is Gerald, played by Jak Roberto.
However, love develops between Gina and Gerald, and Betsy feels betrayed by this. With this, Betsy planned to get close to Gina’s father, Robert, played by Gabby Concepcion. The story will revolve around the lives of these four characters.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Kylie Padilla shared that the story is complicated and so are their characters, especially her character, Gina.
She described her character as a good person, but she gave in to the temptation. This was the reason why her best friend Betsy got angry. However, Kylie pointed out that Gina had her reasons. “That’s what I like, it’s a very complex character and it’s very interesting to play,” she said.
Kylie also said that their characters are not just black and white, and this was the reason why she enjoyed portraying her character.
Kazel Kinouchi shared that this is her first project with Kylie Padilla. They bonded when they had their workshop. “We also requested additional workshops just for the two of us,” Kazel said.
That helps them to carry out intense scenes that require them to deliver their part and respect work boundaries. Kazel also shared that she felt fortunate to work with Gabby.
“(It’s) light, and he is very easy to work with, and he wouldn’t make you feel like I’m Gabby Concepcion. He’s very generous and also very supportive. I’m very happy to work with him. Of course, (I feel) very honored,” the actress shared.
Kazel also shared that her Betsy character was different from her Zoey, her character in ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap.’ With this, she wanted people to see the difference between her past and present characters.
Kazel also said that there were reasons behind her character’s actions. “People may not agree with her choices, but they will understand,” she added.
