Shaina Magdayao talked about her role in this upcoming
Kapamilya actress Shaina Magdayao shared how she prepared for her role as a lawyer in the new series Sins of the Father.
Shaina is one of the prized Kapamilya stars of her generation. She started her career in the entertainment industry as a child star and eventually became an in-demand actress.
With decades of experience in showbiz, Shaina has done various roles, and she thought she had done everything already. However, in a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN, she realized that there was one role she had not portrayed yet.
Shaina Magdayao admitted that when asked about her dream role, she could not say anything, thinking that she had done everything.
“But then when this show was pitched to me, I realized na mayroon pa pala ako na hindi nagawa which is portraying being a lawyer,” the actress shared.
During the interview, she also shared how she prepared for her lawyer role. The actress said that she focused on watching legal dramas and consulted friends who worked in the legal field.
She did this with the intention to understand how lawyers would deliver lines using legal terms.
“Growing up, nanonood tayo ng mga series and mga movies, and marami rin tayong kaibigan na mga lawyers. It’s actually challenging kasi may mga terminologies and syempre matter of fact mo sasabihin ‘yung linya mo,” Shaina said.
The actress added that there was a certain rhythm when lawyers speak, and learning about this was a challenge for her, aside from the confidence that people in the legal field have.
Shaina portrays the character of Attorney Leah Rivera, someone whose loyalties remained undetermined. Her character could be an ally or adversary to the victims of the scam, which involved the characters of Gerald Anderson and John Arcilla.
“Makulay po ang past ni Attorney Lea, and ang show na ‘to tinatalakay niya is scamming, but also sins. And siguro ako right now, ‘yung character ko nandoon siya sa mundo ng mga kasalanan,” Shaina described her character.
She added that in her character, it seemed like whether she would be defined by her past mistakes or not. For her, this is the biggest question in her character.
