Gerald Anderson Reveals Real Reason He Almost Quit Showbiz After PBB

Why Gerald Anderson Wanted Out of Showbiz Just as His Career Was Taking Off

GERALD ANDERSON – In a heartfelt interview, Gerald Anderson opened up about the emotional toll of sudden fame that almost made him walk away from showbiz.

Gerald Anderson recently shared a candid account of his early struggles in the entertainment industry, revealing that he once considered quitting due to “exhaustion and frustration.” Speaking during a June 3 episode of Luis Listens, the actor reflected on the whirlwind that followed his Pinoy Big Brother stint, particularly the rapid success of his love team with Kim Chiu.

“I wanted to quit after a while. Kasi paglabas namin ni Kim [sa ‘PBB’ House], ginawa kaming bida agad. Ginawa kaming bida sa isang teleserye. Triny kami sa ‘Your Song’ and kami yung first episode,” he recalled.

Almost immediately after leaving the reality show, Anderson and Chiu were cast in several major projects. “The ratings came up the next day [and mataas siya for a Sunday], and we were also in ‘Crazy for You’ with [Luis Manzano and Toni Gonzaga], and then ginawa kaming bida sa ‘Sana Maulit Muli,’” he added.

Anderson described the intense work schedule that took a toll on his physical and emotional well-being. He shared how demanding the taping days were, often leading him to moments of solitude where he would cry out of sheer exhaustion. “Because of exhaustion and frustration kasi hindi ka naman magaling agad. I would just see the frustration [and] pressure of taping, and magbebreak down ako,” he said.

Despite the early challenges, Anderson expressed gratitude for the opportunities that jump-started his career. He advised current PBB housemates to cherish the experience. “Mahalin niyo ‘yung trabaho niyo. Mahalin niyo ‘yung staff kasi it takes a team to make the dream work,” he said.

Anderson also emphasized the importance of humility and growth, particularly for those entering the industry through love teams. “Love team, that’s where you will start talaga… Enjoy it. Learn from it. Protect it. Respect it, but always remember na may hangganan ‘yun and there’s always more,” he said.

The actor is now set to lead the cast of Sins of the Father, a drama featuring John Arcilla, Shaina Magdayao, Jessy Mendiola, Francine Diaz, and Seth Fedelin.
