Sara Duterte Leads ‘Bring PRRD Home’ Rally on Birthday
SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte chose to spend her birthday in The Hague, turning the occasion into a political mission to secure her father’s release from ICC detention.
Sara Duterte has arrived in The Hague, Netherlands, where she will spend her birthday on May 31 with her detained father, former president Rodrigo Duterte. More than just a personal visit, the Vice President is spearheading a campaign calling for the former president’s release and return to the Philippines.
Duterte is currently being held in Scheveningen Prison in The Hague amid ongoing investigations by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Vice President Duterte announced that instead of a traditional birthday celebration this year, her focus will be entirely on the campaign to bring her father home.

“I will not have a birthday celebration for this year. Everything is for the ICC case,” she said. “We have a series of ‘ICC send him home’ rallies in different countries. We are just getting the permits from the local governments where the rallies will be held.”
One of the major rallies is set to take place outside Scheveningen Prison on her birthday. The Vice President is expected to return to the Philippines on June 4 after completing her engagements in Europe.

Joining her in The Hague is Senator Imee Marcos, who posted a photo of herself with Duterte’s lead counsel, Nicholas Kaufman. The senator, who has distanced herself from her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., reiterated her support for the former president.
“More than anyone, I know the feeling of being away from my country,” she said. “I did not wait 39 years just to make a mistake again. There is a Marcos who learned from history.”
Senator Marcos expressed confidence in Kaufman and the legal team’s efforts, adding, “Together, we will bring PRRD home.”
In a message to The Philippine STAR, Kaufman welcomed the meeting with Senator Marcos. “I am happy to meet any prominent and influential person from the Philippines – on whatever side of the political spectrum – in pursuit of the defense of former president Rodrigo Duterte,” he said.
