Bizarre Makati Sewer Incident Leads to DSWD Intervention for Viral Street Woman
MAKATI – The Department of Social Welfare and Development has taken custody of the woman involved in the viral Makati sewer video.
The woman who recently went viral after being seen crawling out of a sewer in Makati City is now under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Known only by the name “Bibe,” she was brought to the agency’s Pag-abot Processing Center in Pasay City on Thursday morning, where she is currently undergoing a full evaluation.
According to a statement from the DSWD, their outreach team was able to locate and speak with Bibe before transferring her to the facility for appropriate support. The department explained that she would receive a detailed assessment and necessary interventions tailored to her condition.

This action was taken following an order from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who directed the DSWD to provide complete assistance to ensure Bibe does not end up back on the streets.
The incident drew significant attention on social media after a video posted by user RoughMasterpiecei showed Bibe emerging from a sewer along a crowded street. The video rapidly went viral, with online users comparing her appearance to “Sadako,” a horror character from Japanese films.
According to the Makati City Police, the event took place around 4:16 p.m. on Monday near Makati Medical Center. Authorities suspect that Bibe is homeless, possibly one of the many street dwellers, or “taong grasa,” frequently seen in the area.

According to the report, CCTV footage obtained from the scene revealed that Bibe wasn’t alone during the incident—three people were seen entering the sewer system through a drainage opening. The police are currently working to identify the other two individuals and determine their motives.
While the investigation continues, the DSWD has reassured the public that Bibe will receive the support and care needed to help her heal and reintegrate into society.
