In a Facebook post, the Kapuso Primetime King recalled working with Ricky Davao. Dingdong Dantes admitted that he was admiring the late actor from afar even before he had the chance to meet him.

The Kapuso star shared that during events, he would spot Ricky on stage not to get the attention of the people but to give joy because he would sing a song and the room would light up.

I was still a young actor then, still piecing together how this world worked when I realized: This man wasn’t just performing. He was lighting up the room. He was the room,” Dingdong shared.

He also said that Ricky’s background in theater really showed and that the latter has hat certain presence as well as that aura of being commanding, joyful, and magnetic.

Dingdong was able to work with Ricky in his past teleseryes, such as Dyesebel but it was just years after that when he could say that he had collaborated more closely with Ricky. “I remember thinking, One day, I hope I get to work closely with him,” the Kapuso actor-host said.

Dingdong Dantes Love Child

This happened during the pandemic, when they worked together in November 2021 for the series Alternate They were required to be in a lock-in taping. In the series, Ricky played his father.

During their downtime, he was able to know Ricky not just as an actor, and director, but also as a man. They talked about various topics. Dingdong remembered one particular moment.

“There’s one morning I won’t forget. We were having coffee, and he was talking about intermittent fasting. He couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working. I asked him, “Tito Ricky, wag ka na mag-3-in-1. Try black coffee. Mas masarap. And you’ll stay in a fasted state.” He took the advice, laughed, and updated me every morning after that. It was a simple exchange—but it showed me who he was. Curious. Open. Sincere. Fatherly in the truest sense,” he said.

Dingdong Dantes thanked Ricky Davao for making their lives and the industry richer. With this, the Kapuso actor is giving the late actor a standing ovation.
