Singer-songwriter and OPM President Ogie Alcasid paid tribute to the late singer Hajji Alejandro.

Hajji’s death on April 21 was confirmed by his family. Last March, his longtime partner Alynna Velasquez opened up about his health condition. The late singer had stage 4 colon cancer. On April 22, Alynna shared a heartfelt post about the late singer. She said that Hajji passed away a day before their anniversary.

Messages of sympathy for the family of “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” poured on social media. The Alejandro family asked the public for privacy amid this difficult time in their lives.

One of the prominent people in the entertainmet industry who reminisced Hajji Alejandro’s life and career was Ogie Alcasid. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Ogie said that his “Tito Hajji was just an amazing human being.

He was friendly, always joking around, kind, accommodating and the supreme professional when it came to his art of singing,” the husband of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez recalled.

Recalling more about Hajji’s life, Ogie said that the late singer was righfully called “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” because when Hajji would perform, the listeners would definitely have goosebumps with every note he sings.

These days have been just truly sad as we have all been mourning the loss of our music heroes,” the OPM President said.

Ogie Alcasid also extended his condolences to Hajji Alejandro’s children, Rachel, Barni, and Nino. “We send our deepest sympathies. We are thinking of you at this time and praying for your comfort from our Lord,” he added.

In the comment section of the post shared by Ogie, celebrities and his social media followers also expressed their feelings after learning about Hajji’s death. “This is so Sad for Entertainment Industry. Sunod sunod na nawala mga Icon na kinalakihan ko na napapapanood ko,” a netizen commented, apparently, referring to the passing away of Pilita Corrales and Nora Aunor prior to this.
