Hajji Alejandro Passes Away At 70

The daughter of Hajji Alejandro received messages of sympathy from netizens

The news about the death of OPM singer Hajji Alejandro surfaced on social media after his daughter Barni Alejandro shared this series of posts.

Hajji is known as the “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” or college girls’ heartthrob during the 70s and 80s. His music was well celebrated during that era in the Philippine entertainment industry and some of his classic songs still resonates with the younger generation such as Kay Ganda ng Ating Musikja, Nakapagtataka, and May Minamahal.

Last month, news about Hajji’s health condition suprised many people. His long-time girlfriend Alynna spoke about his battle with stage 4 cancer. Alynna shared that after experiencing symptoms, Hajji did a CT scan and it was found out that he already had Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

When Hajji’s spoke about this for the first time publicly, the singer was already in therapy. Alynna also said that after this, she let Hajji’s family take the lead in taking care of him.

On April 22, news outlets Daily Tribune, Manila Standars, and Abante, released reports stating that Hajji Alejandro passed away on April 21. He was 70 years old.

This news circulated after the singer’s daughter shared emotional posts on social media. Barni Alejandro shared a video singing the song of her father ‘Ang lahat ng ito’y para Sa ‘yo.’

Before she sang, she said, “I love You Daddywaps” and after the song, she said, “I’m gonna miss you forever.” Barni did not mention any name but apparently, she was referring to her father. In the caption of her post, she wrote, “I can’t fathom a life without you. My heart is broken into a million pieces. You were my first love, my hero, my idol. Forever, your Yabs!” and this included three broken heart emojis.

Barni also changed her profile photo. She featured the photo of Hajji Alejandro with her daughter. “The best Lolowaps!!!” she wrote in the caption of her post. These posts that Barni shared received messages of sympathy and condolences from her friends and social media followers. As of this writing, Hajji’s other daughter, singer Rachel Alejandro, has not spoken yet about this matter.
