Actor Gene Padilla defended his brother, actor Dennis Padilla, against the negative comments after what he said about his daughter Claudia Barretto’s wedding.
Dennis is known by many netizens and showbiz fans as someone who always opens up on social media regarding his children. For many years, the actor has been sharing his intention to reconcile with his kids with Marjorie Barretto.
A few days ago, he shared a photo with Julia, Claudia, and Leon Barretto, which showed that they reconnected. Dennis expressed happiness for this.
Then, Claudia Barretto and her longtime boyfriend Basti Lorenzo’s wedding happened just recently. After the wedding, Dennis Padilla shared a post that caught the attention of the online community.
He said that he was not considered the father of the bride but a guest. Because of this, he expressed dismay on social media.
Netizens had various reactions to this. Some took this negatively, while some showed support for him. His brother Gene Padilla also showed support for him.
In an Instagram post, Gene shared photos with Dennis and their mom inside the church where the wedding happened. “Ngayon lang ako nakawitness ng kasal na di part ng program ang ama ng bride… sa aga namin dun,” he said.
Gene also said that the event organizers did not say that Dennis was not part of the program or the entourage. They asked where they could sit, and Dennis was told to just sit with the principal sponsors.
“Napaluha at napaiyak si kuya sa mga nangyari…kaya sabi ko umuwi na tayo after ng simbahan at papicture na lang sa kinasal,” Gene shared.
Then, he said that their mother was also crying at that time because of what happened. Gene said that he felt the pain that Dennis felt. He also said that the children of Dennis were fond of fame and riches.
Gene Padilla stressed, “Sanay kami sa hirap at di talaga kami nababagay sa inyo… pero pinag kaiba batin yung puso namin at dignidad di niyo kaya pantayan…kahit magtanong kayo sa ibang magulang tama ba o mali ang ginawa niyo sa tatay niyo???”
