Ruffa Gutierrez was invited to attend a Congress hearing
Actress Ruffa Gutierrez revealed the reason why she chose to decline the invitation to attend a “fake news” hearing in Congress.
Ruffa is not a newbie when it comes to dealing with fake news. Growing up in the entertainment industry, she is aware of how intrigues and controversies work in showbiz.
Last January, a fake post circulated on social media claiming that she was hospitalized. The actress debunked this fake news about her.

Ruffa Gutierrez is known for being honest about what she thinks and feels. She would address issues when asked about these.
In a recent report, Ruffa, along with other celebrities such as Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda, award-winning actor Mon Confiado, and character actor Baron Geisler, were invited by Congress for the inquiry pursuant to Resolution No. 286 on disinformation and other related issues of Committees on Public Order and Safety, Information and Communications Technology, and Public Information.
Based on the article by Abante entertainment writer Jun Lalin, Ruffa was invited to be a resource person to share her experience as a subject of fake news.
However, the actress declined the invitation. When Lalin asked the actress about this, she that the members of the media could share her statement regarding this matter.
Aside from the fact that she had prior commitments on the day of the hearing, Ruffa also had no intention to involve herself with something connected to politics.

“To my concerned friends and fans who have been reaching out—yes, I was invited to attend this hearing but politely declined, not only due to a prior commitment but also because I choose not to be politically involved, even as I remain a target of fake news and misinformation,” she said.
Ruffa Gutierrez pointed out that truth will prevail and that she will continue to be dedicated to her work with grace and purpose.
“Let’s focus on what truly matters—integrity, growth, and the things that bring light into our lives,” the actress added.
