Shaina Magdayao makes sure she will not get affected by pressure in the entertainment industry
Kapamilya actress Shaina Magdayao talked about how she handles pressure in showbiz while staying true to herself.
Shaina literally grew up in the entertainment industry. She started her career as a child star and eventually became one of the most in-demand actresses of her generation.
Shaina is known as the younger sister of singer-actress Vina Morales who rose to fame in the 90s and achieved longevity in the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN, Shaina Magdayao was aware that from being a child star, people had certain expectations when transitioning happens. It is expected that in order to prove that a child star is ready for a more mature role, she should pose for a men’s magazine.
The actress did not fall for this expectation. “It was a trend back home, years ago wherein they had to transition child actors to be like a woman in the industry, and we had to do that by posing on a men’s magazine, like showing that you’re a woman now and you’re not a child actor [anymore],” the actress shared.
Instead of doing that, she told her management that she would do mature roles by portraying young mom and young wife characters to show that she was already a mature actress.
Over the years, her perspective as an actress changed. She was able to find more meaning and purpose in what she does. One important value she learned is humility. She also highlighted the importance of being grateful.
The actress shared that at this point of her career, she is giving back to the entertainment industry by using her platform for meaningful causes.
Aside from being an actress, Shaina Magdayao is active in doing charity works, women empowerment, and promoting authenticity and self-acceptance. The actress also aims to represent the Philippines more in the international movie scene. She has been invited to different international film festivals. Shaina even had the chance to attend Merryl Streep’s talk at Cannes last year.
