Ruru Madrid recalled the MMFF 2024 Gabi Ng Parangal
Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid reacted to the reaction of actresses Cristine Reyes and Sue Ramirez when they presented his Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Best Supporting Actor Award.
Ruru has been in the industry for quite a long time now. He was given big projects by his home network GMA-7 for the past years. One of the biggest movie breaks that he had recently was the MMFF entry Green Bones.
Because of Ruru’s performance in the said movie featuring Kapuso drama king Dennis Trillo as the lead actor who won the Best Actor award, he also got the Best Supporting Actor Award.
However, an issue surfaced during the Gabi Ng Parangal or the awards night. Sue Ramirez and Cristine Reyes were among the presenters for the Best Supporting Actor award for which Ruru Madrid was nominated.
Their The Kingdom co-star actor Sid Lucero was also nominated in the same acting category. Many people took notice of Sue and Cristine’s reactions when they opened the envelope and read the name written there.
Cristine’s jaw dropped while Sue’s lips displayed that expression that many people did not expect to see in welcoming a winner.
In a recent interview on the YouTube channel of talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, Ruru was asked about that reaction from the presenters. The actor said that he did not have any ill feelings towards them.
For Ruru, Sue and Cristine did not mean how their faces reacted at that time. He also said that it was just normal since Sid had two entries and they worked with him in one of the movies. Ruru understood that the two actresses would really root for their co-star.
“So, for me, no hurt feelings. Kumbaga, as long as masaya tayong lahat, nakita ko tong award na to, wala po talagang problema,” the Kapuso actor said.
Ogie mentioned that Sue and Cristine looked unhappy with what they read. Ruru thought that the actresses did not expect it. However, he knew that through Green Bones, people saw what he could do as an actor.
He also knew that people would comment that he was “bano” when it comes to acting or someone who is far from being excellent. The actor shared this came from a scene that he did in his series Lolong. Because of that, he read comments that he does not know to act at all but he would just laugh at those comments.
