Mon Confiado was asked about Darryl Yap’s controversial movie
Character actor Mon Confiado has safe answers when asked about the controversial Pepsi Paloma movie by director Darryl Yap.
At the start of 2025, Darryl released the controversial teaser of his first movie this year. This stirred the online community, as well as, the entertainment industry. Veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto was mentioned in the teaser and this prompted him to file 19 counts of cyber libel against the director.
Vic also filed a petition to take down the promotional material mentioning his name and the court granted his request.
Actors and actresses involved in this movie also received negative comments on social media. One of the cast members was Mon Confiado who has done prominent movie projects in the past. He played the character of Rey dela Cruz in the movie, the manager of Pepsi Paloma who is played by young actress Rhed Bustamante.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Mon was asked how the story goes. He said that as one of the cast members, of course, he knows how the story will be unfolded. “Very professional naman kami,” he said.
Also included in the film are Gina Alajar who played Charito Solis, Sharmaine Buencamino as Pepsi’s mother, and Rosanna Roces as Divina Valencia.
“Si Direk Gina Alajar naman siguro ay hindi magsu-shooting kung hindi niya alam ang takbo ng kuwento, same as ibang actors — si Ms. Shamaine, si Rosanna Roces, at iba pang cast. Siyempre, as professional, alam namin yung istorya. Pero kung papaano ipo-promote ni Direk, hindi namin alam yun,” the actor shared.
When asked if the movie will not drag down personalities like Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, Mon said that he can’t answer this question for now because it might preempt the movie.
He wanted to be careful and safe because this movie is in a difficult situation. The actor added that the information might not come from him. Mon Confiado said that he gave his service to this movie as an actor but he has no idea about Direk Darryl’s plan.
