Luis Manzano shared losing these things after he decided to enter politics
Actor-host Luis Manzano revealed that his decision to run for Batangas vice governor affected his income.
Luis’s parents Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano both ventured into politics. His stepdad Ralph Recto has been in public service for many years already. Last year, Luis finally decided to enter the political arena as the running mate of his mother.
Vilma returned to politics after taking a break for several years. Her son Ryan Recto is also running for congressman in Batangas. Despite the criticism, Vilma defended her sons. She stressed that they are not the only family in the Philippines whose many members are into politics and that it is still up for the people to choose.
The campaign season for the 2025 elections has officially begun. Luis Manzano expressed gratitude that his wife actress Jessy Mendiola has been very supportive of his intention to be a public servant.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Luis was asked if he will have fewer showbiz engagements because of his political stint. The actor host shared that they already finished taping the finale episode of Rainbow Rumble, his Kapamilya game show.
Then, he revealed, “To be honest, marami rin sa endorsements ko ang hindi na rin nag-renew.”
Luis said that three or four endorsements pulled out but he stressed that he understood this. However, he admitted that this affected his financial status. “‘Yung income ko rin syempre tatamaan naman talaga,” he said.
The actor-host admitted that this saddened him because, in reality, it affected him financially even though he understood the decision of the brands to pull out. Even though Jessy is all-out support for Luis, initially, she was against her husband’s decision to enter politics.
“Nagkaiyakan nga po kami dati. Sabi ko dati sa kanya nung magnobyo pa lang po kami, ‘Ay nako, ‘pag tumakbo ka, hihiwalayan talaga kita.’ E nasaan na po tayo ngayon?” the actress shared.
Then, Jessy revealed that one of the purpose she returned to showbiz is to help her husband when it comes to their finances. “Kaya rin po ako babalik sa trabaho, ako naman po ang susuporta sa kanya,” she said.
Luis Manzano added that this is how they are in their household, they help each other. There are times that his doing projects abundantly while sometimes, it would be his wife.
